The Maritime Administrator of the Republic of the Marshall Islands is honored to commend the Master, Officers, and Crew of the bulk carrier MINERAL BEIJING, managed by Anglo Eastern (Antwerp) NV, for demonstrating outstanding seamanship on the 23th of January 2019. MINERAL BEIJING received a request from Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Chile to assist a yacht that had sustained signification structural damage and was in danger of capsizing approximately 1,142 nautical miles off the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica coast. Captain Oleksandr Tsyganenko diverted course to the yacht’s reported position. While approaching the yacht’s reported position, MINERAL BEIJING attempted to communicate with the yacht, but could not make contact. MRCC Chile was contacted and advised that incorrect coordinates had been given to MINERAL BEIJING. After receiving the correct coordinates, Captain Oleksandr Tsyganenko proceeded to the correct location, and once on-scene, the Crew coordinated the rescue operation with the yacht’s Skipper. Captain Oleksandr Tsyganenko skillfully maneuvered MINERAL BEIJING alongside and the yacht’s Skipper was brought aboard in good health.

The Skipper was then disembarked at Ijmuiden, Netherlands. The rapid response and professional actions taken by Captain Oleksandr Tsyganenko and the Crew of MINERAL BEIJING are in keeping with the finest traditions of the sea. We extend our greatest appreciation for your exemplary commitment to the maritime community.

Well done to Captain Oleksandr Tsyganenko, Officers and Crew!
